Indonesia has the potential to become a major exporter of cocoa in world as well meet needs domestic industry. However, lack availability raw materials (cocoa beans) causes processing industry import beans from other countries. even been included five largest importing countries world. This raises questions about sustainability production Indonesia. research two objectives. First, predicting Second, identify strategies or efforts that need be done so can achieve better level sustainability. The first objective was achieved by using quantitative methods, namely analyzing trends secondary data (from FAOSTAT) related production, planted area, and productivity exports imports. second is reviewing literature, especially results empirical (and various publications cocoa-related institutions) order improve Indonesian production. showed problems have high urgency overcome. If not addressed, there possibility will net importer future (imports are greater than exports). Strategies increase focus on increasing through use superior seeds, specific support for farmers' livelihoods, improving supporting environmental instruments still lacking (such access finance inputs, facilities infrastructure) rural areas, capacity building farmer organizations, extension services) existence strong institutions ensure functioning partnerships between farmers/farmers' organizations parties.
